Roseburg Food Project

The Roseburg Food Project is a revolutionary way to collect food. Neighborhood Coordinators enlist their neighbors to become Donors to the FISH of Roseburg Food Pantry.

Number of Days to the Next Green Bag Pick Up Day: TBD

Remember- early drop off is that Friday afternoon, and we can always accept green bags dropped off at the pantry if you can’t make/miss our Green Bag Day!

Neighbors donate a Green Bag of food every two months. We supply the Green Bag and pick up the food! This provides the FISH Food Pantry with a steady supply of food and gives the Donors the satisfaction of making a real difference in the local community. Have you wanted to contribute to your community but found it hard to get free time? Do you want to help in a significant way without changing your schedule or having to commit to time away from family? Our Green Bag program, through the Roseburg Food Project, is just the right answer!

Sign up online or by calling 541.672.5242, you will receive one of our Green Bags. Then, each grocery shopping trip you make,  you simply buy one or more canned/bagged goods that you drop in your Green Bag. Every even-numbered month (Feb/Apr/June/Aug/Oct/Dec), on the 2nd Saturday of that month, you place your (now full) Green Bag on your porch. Our Neighborhood Coordinator (whom you will know!) will then drive ’round and pick up each full Green Bag, leave you a fresh empty Green Bag, and deliver the full ones back to the FISH. Here, we will sort and stock all the food and supplies we receive from the Green Bags and offer them to our weekly clients! Your contribution is key to our success, and we make it easy for you to help us help all those in need.

Green Bag Volunteers

How it works:

It’s a simple system, built around two types of volunteers:

Neighborhood Coordinators (NCs) agree to organize a small group of their neighbors to become Donors. Their “neighborhood” can be a few houses, several blocks, their work place, or any group they want to coordinate.

Food Donors are neighbors who agree to give food every two months.

For offices / Children groups / School classes – we can structure your group as a “neighborhood” allowing your team to collect and deliver! A great team building experience & we can make it from just once a year to all 6 Green Bag Days per year – just reach out to us and we can help!

When a neighbor joins:

The NC gives the Donor a reusable green Food Project bag and suggests that they buy one nonperishable grocery item each week. Simply fill your Green Bag over the course of two months.

Then every two months, NCs pick up each bag of food, leave an empty one, and bring the bags to the FISH Food Pantry.’

When is the next pick up day?

Pickup day is the 2nd Saturday of each EVEN month (February, April, June, August, October and December).

NEXT PICKUP DAY: TBD
